Why change engine oil and oil filter?
Engine oil is the fluid that lubricates, cleans and cools the internal moving parts of the engine. Oil breaks down from normal wear, i.e., dirt, contaminates, moisture, engine heat and loses its ability to lubricate and clean. Therefore, engine oil should be replaced, as per the manufacturer's maintenance recommendation, to help ensure that the engine performs as designed. An engine oil filter is a vehicle component that is used to remove impurities and undesired components from the oil that flows through an internal-combustion engine. The oil is necessary to lubricate the engine. Replacing the engine oil filter, as per the manufacturer's maintenance recommendation, can help to properly maintain the engine’s lubrication system.(Recommended Maintenance,Identifix.com)
Why rotate tires?
The tires mount on the wheel or rim and contacts the road to provide traction, steering and braking. The wheel bolts to the hub or spindle assembly. Rotating tires and wheels, as per the manufacturer's maintenance schedule, helps even out tire wear and prolongs tire life.(Recommended Maintenance,Identifix.com)
Why replace spark plugs?
A spark plug is a device designed to fit in each cylinder of a gasoline-powered internal combustion engine and to produce the electric spark for igniting the mixture of gasoline and air. Over time, spark plugs become worn out due to corrosion from carbon deposits and burns. This causes the engine to run poorly, suffer from a lack of power and increase pollutants in the exhaust system. Replacing spark plugs, as per the manufacturer's maintenance recommendation, can help ensure that the engine stays is good running condition.(Recommended Maintenance,Identifix.com)
Why change engine coolant?
Engine coolant is a half-and-half mixture of a form of glycol and water. The glycol represents the antifreeze element of the mix, guaranteeing that the fluid doesn't turn to ice in cold temperatures. On the other hand, glycol also prevents the coolant from reaching the boiling point in extreme heat. It keeps engine temperatures stable under all climate extremes and driving conditions. It also contains additional additives that prevent rust and corrosion in the radiator, engine and vehicle's heater. Replacing/flushing the engine coolant/cooling system on a regular basis, and as recommended by the manufacture's maintenance recommendation, can help keep the cooling system in peak operating condition. Why replace cabin air filter?
The cabin air filter cleans incoming air during heater, air conditioner and vent modes. Dust, pollen, mold spores and other particles will reduce airflow into the passenger compartment. If not replaced, eventually the heater and evaporator (air conditioner) may be damaged by corrosion. Replacement of the cabin air filter, as prescribed by the manufacturer's maintenance schedule, can help ensure that the air entering the vehicle's passenger compartment is clean. Why change transmission fluid?
Transmission fluid/oil is a fluid designed to clean, cool, and lubricate the internal workings of transmissions. Transmission fluid/oil breaks down over time due to extreme heat generated in the transmission. It becomes dirty and contaminated with debris from the wear parts in the transmission. Replacing the transmission fluid/oil on a regular basis, as per the manufacturer's maintenance recommendations, helps to ensure that the transmission stays in good working condition. Why replace timing belt?
A timing belt, or cam belt (informal usage), is a part of an internal combustion engine that controls the timing of the engine's valves. A timing belt is typically rubber with high-tensile fibers running the length of the belt as tension members. Rubber degrades with higher temperatures, and with contact with motor oil. Thus, the life expectancy of a timing belt is lowered in hot or leaky engines. The timing belt is also greatly affected by water and antifreeze. Replacing the timing belt(s), as per the manufacturer's maintenance recommendations, may help the engine from suffering catastrophic failure.
Failure to replace timing belt can cause internal engine damage. (Recommended Maintenance,Identifix.com)
